Although MCNS does not have bus service we rely on Ottawa Student Transportation Authority’s (OSTA) bus cancellations to determine when we close our school. When OSTA deems the roads unsafe for bus transportation it is MCNS’s policy to close the school for that day. This is because we operate under extremely strict child to teacher ratio policies and the absence of one teacher means we cannot legally open our doors and conduct classes. While elementary schools remain open during bus cancellations they do not have the same ratio constraints that MCNS is obliged to adhere to. These ratio policies are in place to ensure the safety of all students at MCNS and exceptions cannot be made.

One month’s notice must be given on the 1st of the prior month for all student withdrawals (ex. If you know April will be your last month, please let us know by March 1st) or you forfeit your pre-paid last month’s tuition deposit.  Mid month withdrawals will not be accepted.

Every child has different likes and dislikes when it comes to food. There is no “correct” amount of food to send for your child, however the teachers will tell you if they think more snacks need to be sent. Some great options are cut up fruit and veggies, hummus, crackers, small sandwiches, cheese, yogurt, cut up meat. We also encourage children to have their own water bottle or drink container. There is a strict no sharing policy and snack time is heavily supervised to ensure children do not share their snacks. Please advise MCNS of any and all food allergies and dietary restrictions upon registration.

Other than the occasional snow day the nursery school is closed on all STAT holidays in addition to March Break and Christmas holidays. Please see our school calendar for a full list of school closures.

If payment is not received on time by MCNS at the fault of the parent, the parent will be notified by a member of the Board of Directors and will then have 10 business days to repay the delinquent payment in addition to a $20 NSF fee.  If the delinquent payment and the $20 NSF fee are not paid within the 10 business days the child will be removed from their program until all fees are paid.
